Tessuti Awards 2010
Linen and Lace, by Tash M Dwyer
About my Linen and Lace
- Pattern Used: My own design
- Fabrics Used: tessuti heavy linen, tessuti lace, tessuite's neck lace peices, dollies and other trims.
- Time To Create: 6 weeks on and off.
- Dress Influenced By: When I think of Linen and Lace, I think fresh, sweet, young, romantic. I wanted to show this through the creation I made. I was also influenced by beautiful Kate Middleton's wedding dress. The design took shape by draping over a mannequin and learning what the Linen would and wouldn't do. The dress was done in several stages. 1st: tea dying: neck peices, dollies, trim and fabric. 2nd: making a fitted bodice and hand pleating/gathering the top front and inserting the front neck lace peice. 3rd: I wanted the dress to be modern also, so I created what I like to call a V hemlined draped skirt. 4th: appliqueing the skirt by hand stitching lace, dollies and trim to balance out the neckline, it's like a peice of wearable art!. 5th: The back key hole was created by turning the tea dyed neck peice upside down and hand sewing it to the back of the dress- and wella!!, you have a masterpeice!!
- Additional Information: This peice is an artwork, absolutley beautiful detail.
