Tessuti Awards 2010

Linen and Lace, by Lydia Hnatojko

About my Linen and Lace

  • Pattern Used: My own design
  • Fabrics Used: Tessuti 'sandstone zin', 'linda natural', 'today's special is' linen and crochet trim
  • Time To Create: 6 days
  • Dress Influenced By: Armour loosely influenced the shape of the dress and an image of a doily influenced the laser cut pattern on the linen.
  • Additional Information: as the theme for the award is 'old is new again' i reinterpreted the concept of lace. Using a doily as a reference, i designed an intricate lace pattern using CAD software which i had laser cut into the linen. This is my interpretation of contemporary lace. The detachable belt allows the wearer to add extra detail around the waist. It is covered with layers of linen lace and handmade linen balls interwoven into a crochet trim.
